The discovery of large gas reserves has drastically changed the Israeli energy market and there is a consistent and measured transition to the use of natural gas in Israel. Distribution of low pressure natural gas requires a dedicated pipeline system with strict standards of safety and reliability.

In order to meet these standards Plassim’s gas pipes are manufactured from PE100 material. This is the highest grade of polyethylene capable of withstanding high pressures. The pipes are manufactured in orange, as required by the standard, and when joining the pipe through butt of electro-fusion an advanced traceability system comes into action.

Plassim manufactures gas distribution pipelines in conjunction with the Israeli gas concessionaires. The pipes meet all the requirements of the relevant standards and of the Israel Gas Authority, according to Israeli Standard 5664-3. This is the standard for the distribution of natural gas which is based on the American ASME B31.8 standard. The pipes meet all requirements regarding the design, manufacture, installation, inspection, testing, operation, maintenance and safety. Plassim has a license to mark gas pipe according to the Israeli Standard 71555.

PE pipes may be connected using Electro-Fusion or Butt-Fusion techniques. Plassim exclusively distributes fittings for this purpose from Georg Fischer, Switzerland. Plassim is authorized by Georg Fischer to train, certify and issue certificates for welders concerning the use of welding equipment in the fields of water and gas. Plassim has available welding machines and related equipment, among the best in the world.
